John DeBenedetti - Managing Partner
John DeBenedetti, a native Sacramentan, who attended Sacramento's Jesuit High School from 1987-1991, went on to achieve a BBA Bachelor or Science from the University of Southern California’s Entrepreneurship / Entrepreneurial Studies Program in the well renowned Marshall School of Business. After graduating from this internationally recognized program in 1995, John returned to Sacramento and became President and CEO of Del Monte Meat Co. and Ports Seafood. From 1995 to 2015 he grew these businesses from a $30 million to $250 million dollar enterprise and managed approximately 400 employees.
During this time he also invested in a multitude of food processing companies that required managerial support or financing to increase the growth of the business. His efforts within the foodservice industry helped these struggling companies to reach a thriving status. He also built a portfolio of commercial real estate in Northern California during this time which he continues to manage today. John was extremely active on a number of committees within the North American Meat Processors Association (NAMP), a national trade association. After four years of serving, he was voted amongst his peers to preside over the trade association as President. Subsequent to serving as President, he ascended to Chairman of the Board which included a number of responsibilities including member relations to build consensus as well as negotiating and advocating for the benefit of it's members to the United States Department of Agriculture. John finds great value in giving back to the community that raised him to have strong core values and that provided him a beautiful environment to learn and grow. Thus he has continued, over the past twenty years, to support the local schools to help support the children in his community in an effort to extend to them the same opportunities.
It is his passion to instill a disciplined work ethic alongside a strong moral code to the youth of our nation. In 2015, after twenty years of fervently growing Del Monte Meat Co., John sold the business to the publicly traded company, The Chef's Warehouse. The Chef’s Warehouse is a specialty food distributor of high-quality food products to support chefs in major metropolitan areas across the United States and Canada. In conjunction with the sale, John joined The Chef's Warehouse team as the Executive Vice President of Protein as well as the company's Board of Directors. John managed approximately $1 billion dollars in annual sales for Chef's and managed the M&A activity in their pursuit for a national protein platform. John retired in January 2018 to spend more time with his family and pursue other opportunities. Today he continues to manage his commercial real estate investments. He also manages an extensive range of agricultural property in the Western United States that produces various agricultural commodities and cattle ranches. It is John's goal to build an investment portfolio which includes a broad range of companies where he can utilize his knowledge and experience to help support and mentor other entrepreneurs who have dreams and goals of building great businesses
